Airfield Falls is a 27-acre public park in Westworth Village outside of Fort Worth. It is designed to to preserve the cultural memory of Carswell Air Force Base, and to demonstrate the conservation of natural resources, including the only natural waterfall in the Dallas/Fort Worth region.

The site transforms public perception of landscape and watering practices through the familiar program of a public park, including a butterfly garden. Visitors initially drawn to the park by its amenities come into contact with a pallette of low- water-use plant materials that are beautiful, affordable and practical. Not only are visitors entertained, they are educated.

In lieu of abstractions or metaphors, the actual parts of a C-9 Nightingale jet, provided by a generous donor, are dramatically displayed with navigation and landing lights, re-electrified with low voltage LED lamps.

In addition to conserving the environment in the park, the project preserved history by creating a picnic pavilion on the preserved foundation of the former Base Commander’s house.

This project received a Texas ASLA award of Merit in 2023.
