Avondale Farms Seniors is a 121-unit affordable senior-living community located on 6.75 acres in a quiet community on the edge of Fort Worth, Texas. Planned as an efficient development with a reduced footprint, the designs of the residences are inspired by Texas vernacular architecture, both in their simple forms and in their modest material palettes — wood siding, metal roofing, and Texas limestone.

The site is organized as a series of simple, two-story buildings around a community green, with a clubhouse and pool in the center. Parking is limited in size and is landscaped, and ample pedestrian walks provide ready access for residents and visitors. The centrally-located, multi-purpose green features native plantings, benches, grilles and picnic tables to encourage social activities among residents and their families.

The clubhouse is economically constructed, but nevertheless creates a highly inviting facility for residents and staff, with spaces for media, computer access, mail and fitness. A Great Hall functions as dining hall, gathering space, and classroom. Major interior spaces connect to the outside with expansive porches, encouraging further interaction among residents.

Interior materials are selected for appeal and durability, and include designer tiles, polished concrete floors, beadboard wainscoting, and colors inspired by Texas landscape.
